Torilla Flat - Main and Market streets, downtown Bethlehem.
Considering that Torilla Flat is within wi-fi range of our office at Spark (a Lehigh Valley ad agency), my partners and I have enjoyed several dozen meals at this fine establishment.
Tortilla Flat's torilla chips are as crunchy and satisfying as you'll find anywhere. They make them fresh and toss them with a bit of salt (I'd like more, but that's just me) for excellent dipping stability. The salsa is equally fresh and savory. I could easily have Tortialla Flat's chips and salsa for a meal -- they're that good.
Assuming I've saved room for an entree, I've had several dishes to recommend. The chicken burrito is a no-brainer -- nicely cooked chicken with Mexican cheese -- and enough for two meals. The pork tamales have an authentic corn taste. I often opt for bean burritos, which have tasty black beans and cheese. (As the servers know, I usually requst a bit of lettuce and tomato and extra cilantro inside -- smilingly accommodated.)
A hidden gem on the menu: nopolitos salad, which has shredded lettuce, avacado, tomatoes, grilled cactus and onions (am I missing anything?) tossed in a light oil-vinegar dressing. It's perfect for a light lunch or dinner if you're looking from a change of pace from traditionally heavy dishes.
Service has always been outstanding. Keep it up, Benjamin!
