It had been nearly a year since I visited Fiesta Ole in Emmaus. I had a decent lunch March 2006. Dinner two weeks ago, however, was a disappointment.
I found the dinner menu extremely uncreative. Nothing of interest stuck out, so I ordered two chicken burritos, one with red sauce, one with green. Both were uninspired, topped with tasteless chopped iceberg lettuce and unripe tomatoes. There's no liquor license, so a Negro Modelo or margarita was out of the question. And the men's bathroom felt like it could double for the walk-in cooler. With all of the outstanding Mexican places in Allentown, it's unlikely that I will return here.

Mike:
It is almost humorous how many people I hear at Air Products Rave about this place.
I have heard several reliable sources, including yourself, state that it is less than stellar to say the least.
I'm going to go with your point of view and skip this joint. It is more than likely everyone else is satisfied by simply playing ethnic make believe on occasion.
FYI . . . be on the look out for the new Mexican/Spanish restaurant in the WETD!
I've been wanting to try fiesta O'le for a while now. hard to belive it's been around for over a year, seems just like yesterday the Golden Corral closed up.
As for quality mexican, I still make the trip down to Ricardo's Tavern House in Hellertown when I'm in the mood for mexican. :) Haven't found a place closer that is better.
I've lived in emmaus about 12 years now, but all my 32 years in the valley in some place or another.
Thanks for the comment on Tavern House. It's been a while since I've been there -- actually, I think my last visit was pre-blog. I'll have to make it back.
Thanks Michael for the suggestions, i just checked your reply. its been a while since i got on the comp... i'll be sure to check out them out...hey here's a suggestion for you and ur readers:

the only decent place on there was 'blue' though, the best rib eye cheesesteak i've ever had, and i am originally from philly, ask for it medium rare though.
eugenius from LA via philly
i'm gonna go check out Damascus, 449 N 2nd St - Middle Eastern, today! ;)
thanks!
oh btw, i was watching anthony bourdain, no reservations the other night, and the funniest food line i've ever heard was said. As tony was walking by a hissing goose in the pacific nw, he said, " Shut the fuck up before i over feed you til ur liver bursts and then i'll eat you!" ha!
Great comment from Bourdain! He's a national treasure. If you're a seafood fan, try Blue's lobster and shrimp reuben at lunch. It may very well be the most decadent sandwich on the planet.

FWIW, Fiesta Ole does have a liquor license now (and they make a pretty darn good mojito :).
I think they got the license about a month ago. I spoke with a foodie on Friday who has eaten there several times and has always had good experiences. Maybe my most recent visit was an anomaly.
I agree with the negative comments regarding this place. I was impressed with the food in 2006 when it first opened, but I went there back in July and was incredibly disappointed with the service and the food was sub par to the point where I ate half my meal, paid the check and left!
Obviously the people who have eaten there and do not like the food have never left Pennsylvania! Having eaten authentic Mexican food on the West Coast and area, this place is great! Prices are extremely reasonable and people are friendly. Portions are very large and food arrives fast. Cannot compare to the dried out over priced food at Don Pablos!
