Quick updates -- closing and opening

I've learned from a friend that Kim Chee Express on Broad Street in Bethlehem is no longer open. To my knowledge, this was the only true Korean restaurant in the Lehigh Valley. Here's hoping that is a temporary condition for our region.

However, intrepid students at Muhlenberg College have told me that the former Churros Cafe in Allentown near 10th and Turner has reopened as a Carribean-Cuban restaurant. I can't recall the name, but I'll head there soon for a sampling. The students will publish their review along with dozens of other restaurant reviews in the soon-to-be updated Living Here in Allentown guidebook. (Last year's book is available as a fairly large PDF.)

Hi...I'm Abby and a student at Muhlenberg. In response to the closing of Kim Chee--I spoke with the woman who owned the place a couple of days before they closed. She said that her father is ill and so she had to go to back to Korea to be with him and really didn't have someone else who could take over the restaurant. I did meet a couple who will be opening a Mexican (?) restaurant at the same location. Also, the woman from Kim Chee mentioned that if things go ok, she will look to reopen in Bethlehem when she returns to the States.

I'm sorry to hear about the owner's father. She was a cheerful, enthusiastic proprietor. I wish her the best and hope that she's able to reopen.

I'll check out what's going into the former Kim Chee. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the info--I went to lunch this weekend and was startled to see the Spanish restaurant in its place. I'm sorry to hear that the owner's father is ill, but VERY glad to hear that she hopes to open eventually!
