Well, I used up an ample allotment of my 15 minutes of fame by virtue of appearing in today's edition of The Morning Call to share my spicy jambalaya recipe. It's simple and packed with flavor. Hope you enjoy it.
Coming soon: reports on La Lupita (Mexican) and Nueva Lanterna (Cuban).
Quick home cooking note: If you like Mexican hot sauces, I highly recommend Bufalo chipotle hot sauce. It's got loads of flavor, depth and complexity as well as a heck of a kick. I thought it was no longer available until I saw it last week at, of all places, the Weis in Cedar Crest Plaza. I picked up three bottles. Try it -- you won't be disappointed.
Happy new year's to all. And happy eating.

I liked the picture of you holding the plate/bowl. How cute you PR guys are! We PR ladies aren't nearly as fetching.
I'm blushing. Maybe it's just the novelty of a man displaying food he prepared that's so beguiling to the ladies.
La Lupita is good, though it doesn't come close to Mexico Lindo in North Beth. Main and Garrison. Nueva Lanterna has great Mojitos. The food is good Cuban fusion, though probably not good enough to justify the price. If you were ever in the old Lantern the don't forget to compliment them on their clean up job.
I missed this in the paper! Way to go - I'll have to try it sometime soon, sans the sausage due to hubby's high tri glys. I'll let you know how it goes - ps what's file powder?
File powder is ground sassafrass. It's used a Cajun and Creole spice. It provides a little bitterness and earthiness to the dish, in my opinion.
