Bizarre meats coming to Allentown

Like ostrich, alligator and bison? Or at least curious to try? You won't have to go far in about a month. A new restaurant called Four Aces (I hope I heard that right) is slated to move into the former Rock Around the Clock Diner on 13th and Hamilton. That's all I know at this point. But here's hoping for some elk and wild boar. Aside: Mr Bill's deli at the Allentown Farmers Market carries a selection of exotic meats in the open case freezer to the right of the sausage counter. I've seen several styles of ducks, quail, pheasant, squab, boar and ostrich. I'll have to pull a random meat out of the case the next time I'm feeling inventive.

I had ostrich for the first and only time about 10 years ago at Krista's in the Holiday Inn on 512. The ostrich was great, but the dish stands out in my mind because the morels with it weren't clean and that's a very bad thing.

I'd love to try it again sometime, so I'll be looking for this new place!

Would love to see you review the new soul food place on 4th in Easton. Just heard about it and it sounds like it could go either way.

I don't make it to Easton much, unfortunately, but I hope to. We're big fans of soul food and have been to excellent places in South Carolina and Georgia. We've been to Ms. Tootsie's on South Street in Philly and Soul Fixins on 8th/36th (or so) in NYC -- both are very good.

Not yet. They had a soft opening a couple of weeks ago, so they should be open for business. I'll try to swing in sometime before Labor Day.
