LV Lisa reports:
Lower Macungie Township now has an Indian restaurant! Kebab and Curry is next to Radio Shack in the Walmart mall on Mill Creek. I can't wait to give it a try, their food looks great.
Hope to try it myself. Thanks for the update.

I assume there's a buffet?
Went to Fiesta Ole in Bethlehem yesterday. You were right - big thumbs down. I'll be heading back to the southside for Mexican next time.
Where's Fiesta Ole in Bethlehem? I thought it's called On the Border?
Just picked up from Kebab & Curry. Ordered samosa chat, naan, and chicken leg tikka. Was told chicken would be 15 min, couldn't wait since I had to get back to the office. Ordered goat curry instead- came without rice, just goat pieces floating in the curry sauce. Goat was mostly bone, I got about 5 small bites of meat and no rice to actually enjoy the sauce. Tasty but disappointing, especially for the price ($6.99). I've had better naan from local grocery stores. Somasas were good at least. I was so excited for an indian rest to open close to work, but feel let down... Hopefully it improves.
Stick to the tried and true Indian places: Spice India and Nawab!
Fiesta Ole is on Linden, where the old Fuddruckers used to be.
On the Border is off Airport Rd in Allentown, where the new shopping complex went in.
How is On the Border?? Like Jack Creek?
I'm assuming On The Border is like virtually every other ethnic chain -- predictable menu, centrally made/processed food and generally lacking in character. There are so many other options for Mexican in Lehigh Valley. I wrote a post for Lehigh Valley InSite here: http://lehighvalley.typepad.com/insite/2009/08/authentic-mexican-dining-in-allentown.html
Mexico Lindo and La Lupita are two of the best Mexican places in the Valley!
How is Mexico Lindo since the new owners took over?
Well, finally was able to give Kebab and Curry a try, and like Anonymous was pretty disappointed. We had samosas (not bad), goat curry (our favorite), palak paneer (not good, I couldn't finish mine), naan (we really enjoyed it) and rice (very tasty).
My biggest complaint was that the food was weirdly overly spicy - the weird thing being we couldn't tell which dish was the spciy one! And I don't mind spicy food when well done, but this was all heat and no enjoyment.
I have to admit my experience with Indian food isn't as extensive as it could be, but I don't remember ever having Indian food that was this spicy (especially not Palak Paneer!).
Another strange thing is I don't understand why they are serving gyros and kebabs along with Indian food. They really should pick one and do it well.
I'm still hoping that they can work out some of the kinks, but I have a sneaking feeling they will be gone shortly like many of the other food places in this mall.
Well, back to Tilghman Square to try out their new restaurants!
What a great resource!
My family and I ate from Kebab&Curry in allentown this evening and our experience was horrible. The pakoras were very spicy and the chicken makhani was overly greasy.
We were hoping for a good meal but had to throw it away and ordered a pizza instead.
Hmmm. Intriguing place.
The Morning Call restaurant writer covered Kebab & Curry today 2.18.10.
Don't know if this link will work:

She seemed to think it ok & didn't mention over spicy, etc. In some poor Indian restaurants if you ask for spicy they just throw in cayenne pepper or hot sauce at last minute, so beware.
The Indian & Mediterranean combo is unusual & worth asking them why - maybe the chef picked it up en route through Europe, maybe multi-cultural ownership?
I peeked in & it did look more like take-out not sit down. I'll put an order in next time I'm over that way.
Thanks for all of the comments and reports. My experience is that cuisine combinations -- in this case Middle Eastern and Indian -- rarely work. Choose one thing and do it well. The mixed comments here seem to corroborate my theory.
Here is another great middle eastern restaurant called Damasscus at 449 N 2nd St is it a small family owned very good and fresh restaurant.
There is also Petra on Broad St Bethlehem it is also middle eastern and they have a nice buffet
Damascus is one of my favorites. Awesome food, good service and very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
I stopped in to Petra a couple weeks ago for the buffet -- no buffet anymore.
Ha--Spice India, if you like cockroaches in your food.
Anon 3:14 -- that's a harsh criticism without supplying a picture or citing a health inspector's report.
That guy put the roach in to get his meal for free!
...love love love indian food...i found two things in my spice of india food...one take out...one in house...called the waiter over and he did nothing...just walked away...one was aluminum foil...one was a piece of plastic (from frozen veggies or something)...very sad that i have to travel to bethlehem but i gave spice of india two chances and both times i got more then i paid for
If you want a rude owner go to Nawab!
Damascus is really good so is the Turkish place on 2nd street in Allentown, Aci Halal.
I've been to Nawab more than a dozen times and have never had anything less than pleasant treatment by waitstaff and management.
Maybe the Nawab owner is just rude to women and students; my mother and I have been treated rudely before by whom I assume is the owner -- man w/ mustache. I hate people like that who forget that we are paying his salary. I like their food but am reluctant to go because of him.
This is how rude he was: made us wait to pay while he sat in the front and talked on the phone, then finally got up and took our payment without getting off the phone, he didn't ask us how our meal was, didn't say thank you or have a nice night -- extremely, extremely rude behavior for an owner. They are missing alot of business from me because of this.
If that's indeed true, here's hoping that he'll read about it and change his ways. It's the first time I've heard about any inhospitable treatment there.
A Spice India just opened at the intersection of 248 and 33 (in the same strip as CiCi's Pizza). Going to try it later today (March 7, 2010).
We got a take out a couple of nights ago.
The ambiance is definitely "take-out" I wouldn't want to stay & dine there, however it's great value for a take out.
The samosas were good & great value at $1 each. The goat curry & chicken korahi were good & not that spicy. Both main dishes have lots of bones which may freak out some people if they're not used to that. Also there is a layer of ghee/oil on the dishes. You have to ask for rice or naan.
I consider this a great take-out place, however it was empty at 7pm on a Friday - doesn't bode well for the future, which is a shame.
I never liked the Nawab too much - thought the food a bit bland & could rarely tell the dishes apart - seemed like curry sauce. I didn't think the staff were very friendly when I've been there.
Spice India started off very good but has gone down hill a bit in terms of quality & freshness.
Bring back Joseph & Bombay Grille in Easton - how we miss that place!
Is this Spice India in Northampton
Crossings? Sorry I'm not familiar with that area.
i went to the spice india on saturday , they were really packed ...long wait . considering their first day of opening ,place was doing geat and they were trying to accomodate customers as much as they can ,food was fantastic as it is in their Whitehall location .
I went to Kebab and Curry once and walked out the food looked so unappetizing; I went back a second time and got take out. It was pretty good. I had the combo plate--rice and naan with one meat dish and one veggie. I chose the basic chicken tikka (because it looked the best--it is all sitting out for you to look at) and the mixed veggies. As opposed to others on here, I actually liked that it was spicy. Indian food is supposed to be spicy. It was also well seasoned, and the veggies were fresh. There was plenty of meat in my chicken dish, and the samosa--which was, I believe, something like $1.10--was a meal in itself. I was also given two little containers of condiments--I can't really ask for more for how much I paid. However, my heart will forever belong to Spice India in Whitehall. The buffet is the best buffet I've ever had. Of all buffets I've ever had, Indian or not.
I've recently had very good meals at Thai Thai, Mexico Lindo and Aci Halal (Turkish) -- these places are the best in the Valley at their respective cuisines.
This isn't exactly ethnic, but I picked up lunch at Easy Street Eats, where Conway's BBQ used to be on Tilghman St. Fantastic! I had wings (jamaican jerk) and the andouille corn dog. Wings were crispy and not greasy, and the corn dog was just outstanding. I'm going back tomorrow with my coworker for a proper sit-down lunch, and will probably order the grilled cheese (3 halves with a variety of cheeses/breads) with their tomato bisque. Menu is intriguing. No website yet (can't even find them on the web), but if you can get there, go! Looking forward to picking up lunch at least once a week...
Does anyone know what's going into the Sunrise Donuts location on the south side of Bethlehem (E. 4th St. and Adams)? It looks like a restaurant. Also I just saw a sign for a new Kenyan place on Main Street in bethlehem. any info?
Does anyone know more about the Kenyan place coming to Main Street, Bethlehem?
I saw a sample menu. Looks exotic and delicious. It's going to be in the back of Wired on Main Street. Due to open in May.
Just saw it today, it looks like it's just opened
Anyone know what's going into the Sunrise Donut location on southside Bethlehem?
Best new Indian: Spice India on Rt. 248 in Lower Nazareth/Easton Area. Buffet on Friday, Sat., Sunday. Best I've had since moving to LV from NYC.
Spice India in Lower Naz. & Easton - Rt. 248. Had about a dozen differnt menu items and loved them all. They have buffet on Friday - Sunday for lunch. Best Indian in the Valley; however, can get expensive.
We've been to the Spice India's buffet several times now - love it - very good food. Did go one Friday evening for dinner and waited an inordinate amount of time! They were very busy, but I don't hold that against them. The food was fantastic.
There's a Saladworks opening up one storefront down from them, FYI.
5/13/10
Is there any real difference between the two Spice India's?
there's no real difference between the two Spice India's
I heard an italian place is going into the old Sunrise donut place in bethlehem
Anyone been to Alondo yet?, new Kenyan place in bethlehem
i wish there was a really good authentic Tex-Mex place in the Valley, i guess Jack Creek and On the Border are the closest ones
that goosey gander has got some good samiches!
The Chiese buffet at the Westgate Mall is really good, just $7 for lunch.
anyone know what's going in next to Thai Thai? I can tell it's a restaurant or bar from the alcoholic beverage license outside
anyone know what's going into next to Thai Thai?
The Flying Fish, sushi place, is going in next to Thai Thai! Hopefully it will be better than the Other Fish on Broad Street
I love Easy Street Eats in Allentown. I think it opened in May and its now my very favorite place. The food is scrumptious, so much on the menu I never know what to choose. The prices are about the same as somewhere like Ruby Tuesday's, maybe less, and the food is much, much better. I also love the way the place is decorated and the retro music is fun too. It's a very cool restaurant and it also has a great bar, some friends and I are starting to make it a regular Thursday night stop after work. The bar menu rocks.
White Orchid has amazing Thai. It is in the Promenade. I had a great night out with my wife. The Thai beer was a letdown. They were accommodating to my wife's celiac disease and made an extra spicy dish to order for my liking. Big thumbs up!!
